SMART EBIKE ::
GREEN (FUN) MOBILITY
Six days dedicated to sustainable mobility to discover Milan in the saddle of an electric bicycle. On occasion of the upcoming edition of Salone Internazionale del Mobile, smart will be presenting the smart ebike design tour taking you to the most exciting design hotspots during the Milanese fair. And while covering ten different hotspots, you still won’t break a sweat! The protagonist will be the smart ebike, an authentic design object, which on July 2nd 2012, also won the Red Dot Design Award, one of the most prestigious international prizes in this field, selected among 4,500 submitted products from 58 countries. But, please, keep in mind: the smart ebike is not only fun but also functional, and smart CEO Dr. Annette Winkler has no doubt about it: “The smart ebike is a true smart – but on two wheels. It’s not just an extremely well designed bicycle that is sure to draw admiring glances in the city – it’s also really practical and child’s play to ride”.
More than a test drive, the smart ebike design tour is a real tour around the streets of Milan, an opportunity given to everybody in order to personally try out the advantages of electric mobility while experiencing advanced design.
After the registration, the starting point is at the smart ebike station in the courtyard of Fabbrica del Vapore. The tour is made of 10 hotspots characterized by a close relationship between the urban city and design, and which have been selected by five people close to the world of art and design: Lorenzo Castellini, Giovanna Massoni, Luca Nichetto, Matteo Ragni and Claudia Zanfi.
The first spot is the exhibition Nichetto=Nendo which is the collaboration between Luca Nichetto and Oki Sato; the itinerary goes on to Green Island, a location recommended by Claudia Zanfi, where it will be possible to admire the outstanding all-wooden bikes handmade by Dutch designer Jan Gunneweg. Among other places to visit, there is also Cascina Cuccagna, a genuine farmstead in the heart of Milan that hosts creative projects. Moreover, art enthusiasts will appreciate the Mysterious Baths Fountain, one of the latest sculptures created by Giorgio De Chirico, located in Milan’s Sempione Park. Then, effortlessly cycling on, riders will arrive at Galleria Rossana Orlandi that since 2002 has been exhibiting and supporting young designers from all over the world.
Efficiency, user-friendliness and a whole lot of fun. The smart ebike is all that, and the smart ebike design tour is going to prove it to you.
