PARIS PHOTO ::
17TH EDITION
Artists, gallerists, collectors and curious who love photography, there is a good news for you. From November 14th to 17th, the Grand Palais in Paris will host the 17th edition of the majestic Paris Photo. 136 galleries and 28 publishers coming from 24 countries will participate to the elegant visual platform curated by Nicolas Bourriaud, Director of the Ecole de Beaux-Arts of Paris and by the critic Chantal Pontbriand.
Amongst the several exhibitions, the one dedicated to the recent acquisitions will present the new collection of Instituto Moreira Salles of Rio de Janeiro, Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto) and Museum Folkwang of Essen. Private Collection exhibition unveils the photographic collection of Harald Falckenberg/Deichtorhallen Hamburg, whereas Martin Parr will gather different high impact photographic books for the Protest Book show in the Open Book section.
Paris Photo Agenda is an important news, because it selects the best photos of the year from more than 200 international galleries and institutions. For the third consecutive time, Giorgio Armani is the official partner of the Parisian event, and once again he will exhibit a photographic collection about water. AQUA #4 includes works by Cindy Sherman, Robert Adams, Peter Hujar and many others, and it is a good summary of the Italian designer’s aesthetics.
Another recurring event is the Paris Photo-Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards, in which a jury composed by critics and curators will assign the First PhotoBook award and the PhotoBook of the Year award to the best photographic book of 2013. The list of the exhibitions and events is so long that anyone will be satisfied.
